SECRETARIES REPORT 2011

NEW HONORARY SECRETARY PROFILE

I thought it appropriate if I let members know from where I came from and who their new Honorary Secretary is.  Firstly my name is Paul Kelly and I hail from Sydney’s Eastern suburbs

Because I’ve only lived in Toronto for coming up to 3 years & as such members wouldn’t know me all that well. So here goes;  Regular soldier served in H.Q Battery;  12 Field Regiment Royal Australian Artillery as a regimental   signaller.  Vietnam:  1968-69. I had an idea of making the Army a career as my father was a career soldier, reaching the heights of a WO 1 {RSM} but it was not to be.

Leaving the Army; I joined the Customs service as a Preventive Officer; that is someone who rummages through your bags as you arrive home from     holidays.  That was interesting when placed with the Narcotics Bureau &    Detection section in which I also served.

From there I joined Bosch as a sales representative. Bosch is German firm that supplies alternators/starters motors, spark plugs,  diesel & fuel injection etc & of course a multitude of other products for the car.  I’m sure that your car has Bosch parts on it or is licensed by Bosch.  However redundancy caught up with me along with others, so as age was seen by me as a       problem I decided to retire (Toronto)  I am married to Yvonne & have a son      Eamonn  who lives in Sydney with 2 grandsons. (Cyclone & Typhoon) not their real names.

Favourite tipple:=  Bourbon with ice    Sport:= sorry; motor rallying.  I did this in an earlier age.   Relaxing! Well reading European history 1848 to 1914, English Plantagenet Kings Imperial German Army & Naval history.             Photographing commercial & industrial architecture. Walking/hiking in the mountains. Finally to complete the bizarre biography I  love  French cars!   Mon Dieu, so if you see a Peugeot  around town it might be me.

My mobile number is 0435 114 765.                                                         Email: secretary@rsl2283.com.au Landline: 4950 4608.

I look forward to meeting you all during the coming year.  I hope I can     measure up to Ron Mitcherson’s time in office.  Paul
